Art Club @ AvÐÔ°®
The Visual Art Department has given students the chance to explore, develop and create art pieces for a College Art Exhibition later in the year. For five weeks, under the guidance of Mrs Pannell, students from Years 7, 8 and 10 create clay Japanese Daruma dolls as part of 'Extra-curricular Art Club' held each Wednesday after school.
Daruma dolls are hallow, round, coloured, traditional Japanese dolls, modelled after Bodhidharma, a founder of the Zen Sect. The dolls will fit into the exhibition's theme of Japanese art and the Mad Hatter's Tea Party.
Middle School stuents are using paper clay, while more experienced and older students are using porcelain clay, a clay the College has never used before, giving students more mediums to explore with.
Art club provides budding young artists with opportunities to express their talents, learn new skills and use materials which they wouldn't be able to use in normal classes.
Anyone wanting to join Art Club for the remaining terms, please come and see Mrs Michelle Hunt – Arts Administrator and register your interest.
