Navigating Neurodiversity - Firsthand Perspectives
AvÐÔ°® Christi College hosted a captivating ‘Meet the Authors’ event shining a spotlight on the accomplishments of two exceptional individuals within our College community. The spotlight was on Hamish Kelly, a recent graduate and Jodi Hampel, a parent from the College, both of whom have authored insightful books addressing the unique challenges faced by Neurodiverse learners.
In his book, ‘Hamish - A Work in Progress’, Hamish Kelly shares his firsthand experiences as a student with Dyslexia. ‘This is Joel’, a vibrant picture book by Jodie Hampel, serves as an engaging introduction to Autism, drawing from her journey as a parent of a child with Autism.
The event is a testament to the College's commitment to supporting the challenges faced by neurodiverse students and providing an inclusive and welcoming learning environment for all students.
Thank you to Ms Paula Power, Team Leader - Students with Disabilities and Ms Kelly Smith - School Improvement Advisor from the Catholic Education Office of WA, who came to support our event.
