Primary FUSE Cup
This year our Primary campus continued their involvement in the FUSE Cup, with several students going all the way to the national grand finals.
The Federation of United Schools Esports (FUSE) Cup is an international network of schools providing young students with an opportunity to participate in a safe, supportive and structured national eSports competition while developing positive gaming behaviours and digital wellbeing.
Our Year 5 and 6 students had the opportunity to compete in the game of 'Just Dance 2022', giving up their recess and lunch times over the last few weeks to take part in year level dance offs as they competed for the title of 'Top Dancer' at the AvÐÔ°® Christi College Primary campus.
Tayla A and Hayley H came out on top as respective Year 5 and 6 Champion at the College, with our Year 6s Taya, Alina and Harmony joining Hayley in being selected for our College regional team as they then competed against other schools from across Australia on Wednesday 9 March.
Before the start of the competition, which has a strong foundation in positive gaming and cyber-safety education, our students started the day by listening to some key messages about gaming addiction and online bullying before meeting the rest of the competitors.
The competition bracket included Year 5 to Year 8 students and although it saw our students competing against older students, they did well to come first in their division.
They then moved into the semi-finals before reaching the Australian grand finals against Kilvington Grammar, Emmanuel College and Ormeau Woods State High School.
All four schools fought hard for the title of Australian Champions, with our students ultimately finishing in 2nd place behind Year 8 students from Emmanuel College.
We are proud of the fantastic way our Year 6s represented our school in both skill and attitude and for making it all the way to Runners-Up at a national level!
The students are now very excited to start running some of their own competitions at school to continue building their skills, ready for our next major event!
